Google Chrome users, for example, can add playback hotkeys with an extension called keyMazony. Once installed, you'll have keyboard control of your Amazon Cloud Player queue. keyMazony commands will work as long as you're in the same Chrome window as Cloud Player, even if its tab doesn't have focus. The key combinations are customizable as well -- just make sure you don't set up a combo that conflicts with another extension or Chrome's built-in keyboard shortcuts.

Retro-Tastic Bamboo Case Turns iPhone Into Camera
When it comes to phones and other small gadgets, I prefer to go bareback, slipping the thing naked into my pocket. But if I was the case-buying kind, first on my list would be this gorgeous bamboo case from Etsy maker Signimade.
The case is the two-part, slip-on kind, and is laser-engraved to make it look like a lovely, old-fashioned camera. It has cut-outs for all switches, the camera and flash (of course), and for the really paranoid, it ships with a screen protector.
Bamboo would seem to be the ideal material for cases, as it is both strong and light. In this case, the case weighs in at just 22g, or 4/5 of an ounce.
The case fits both AT&T and Verizon iPhones and ? like the iPad 2 ? is back-ordered until mid April (although the seller says there are a few left on Amazon). $35 on Etsy, and currently $43 on Amazon.

Yahoo! Messenger now censors the links you share
Well, it looks like our fears may actually have some basis in reality: Yahoo Messenger strips FilesTube links from instant messages. It doesn't tell either party that a URL has been removed from chat -- it just deletes it. Poof. FilesTube, in case you were wondering, is one of the largest file hosting meta search engines on the Web -- it indexes RapidShare, Megaupload, Mediafire, and many other 'cyberlocker' services.
It's fairly obvious why FilesTube links are being removed -- the Censor General at Yahoo is probably one of those perplexed primates who think all uses of BitTorrent are illegal -- but this situation poses a far more important question: is Yahoo censoring messages on the client side, or the server side. Does the messenger client itself maintain a list of 'blacklisted' words -- and if so, why are we not told that FilesTube links are banned? What other words and terms does Yahoo protect us from?
If the filtering is done on the server, then we have a much larger problem: Yahoo is parsing every message we send and removing content that it deems illegal. Why is chat not encrypted? What else is Yahoo censoring? Who decides what is illegal, and what isn't? Is a governmental agency involved -- a lobbying group, like the MPAA or RIAA?
If you value your privacy, and you want to chat without the Yahoo Big Brother looking over your shoulder, we suggest you use an IM client that supports encryption, such as Adium for Mac, and Pidgin with Pidgin-Encryption for Windows.

Put Some Joulies In Your Java
I?ll come right out and admit that I have an obsession with Kickstarter lately, and with the sorts of brilliant ideas that have been rolling out of there recently, it?s pretty obvious why.
One of the more recent projects up for funding is Coffee Joulies. What appear to be large, shiny coffee beans are in fact food-grade stainless steel shells filled with a food-safe phase change material (PCM). The PCM is a solid at room temperature, but when you drop the Joulies into a hot beverage, the PCM liquifies and begins absorbing heat, cooling your joe to a comfortable drinking temperature. On the other end, when your drink begins to get cool, the PCM begins to re-solidify and releases the heat it has stored, thus keeping your drink warm. Ultimately, the Joulies extend the window of time during which your hot drink is? well? drinkable.
The funding window for Coffee Joulies is open until May 2nd, and backers can scoop up a set of 5 Joulies in a storage bag for as little as $40 (plus $35 for each additional set), which is a decent savings off of the $50 per set that the inventors are planning to sell them for once they officially go to market. Considering that the project has already more than tripled its funding target with more than a month to go, I suspect that these are going to do quite well. I know I?m already in for two sets.

O'Reilly helps Japan, offers entire e-book catalog for 50% off, today only
They usually offer one "Deal of the Day", which is a 50% discount code for a book chosen for that one day. But just for for today, they've created a discount code -- DDJPN -- that gives you a 50% discount on their entire catalog, and they give a part of the proceeds to aid Japan relief efforts.
So far they've raised over $60,000, and the day is still young. So if you've been recently hankering after some nerdy book (or three), now would be a great time to grab one.

WWDC 2011 ticket for sale on EBAY
Yesterday, WWDC 2011 sold out in a record 10 hours and now one of those tickets has popped up on EBAY with a Buy It Now price of $3,500. That?s $1901 more than the original $1,599 price set by Apple. The seller claims that this ticket was purchased for a colleague who ended up not being able to make the event.
We expect Apple will put an end to this auction in a heartbeat. The last thing Apple wants is for people to snatch up tickets and turn them over for a profit.
What do you think? Are you angry at this dev for trying to make a buck off this ?extra? ticket?
